About Warzone 2D

Warzone 2D has been in development on and off for about 2 years.

The game is pretty much complete - it's just in need of a good set of maps and bots to release it as v1.0.
As pixel graphics take so long to do, I'm really hoping some talented Pixel Artists out there will get behind the project
and contribute.

Since there is only one person developing it, the development process is incredibly (& surprisingly) time-consuming.
Warzone's source code is 99% original, with only some audio code being a modified version of Tomas Koutny's
WavePlayer library.
I feel that sitting down and coming up with your own solutions to coding problems is half the fun of development,
so I really don't like to use other people's code - unfortunately, this meant Warzone took a lot longer to make!

Having coded everything myself from scratch, I now have a really good knowledge of tile-based 2D games,
which means that Warzone 2D v2 is really gonna rock!

Future Projects

Warzone is the first of a run of 2D titles that I'm hoping to complete.
While Warzone v2 is in development, I want to utilise the v1.0 game engine to make a classic-styled, top-down mission based game.
Think of it as a story-driven Warzone, but with a completely new interface and mission-based "wrapper".
Basically, a unique top-down combination of Desert Strike, Commandos & Cannon Fodder.
At the moment, I'm calling this project "Warzone Mercenaries".

Eventually, I want to do a game in the style of the original isometric Syndicate, but that's quite a way off.
[Actually, all of the Warzone developments are intended as steps towards this project, and there's even some Syndicate-style stuff
already in Warzone atm (such as bullets pushing bots around the map, etc)]

If you're a pixel artist and want to get involved in either project, I REALLY WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Show me your pixelling skills by making some cool Warzone maps or bots - the best will become part of the official
Map Pack when v1.0 is complete!
